Job Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that the producers returns are pooled costed analysed and reported on correctly in the right currency and to ensure that all the income and expenses pertaining to a fruit sale is accounted for and recovered correctly through the return to grower process. The producer accountant provides accounting support to the team internal departments customers and growers and administers all accounting and reporting related to growers.

Key Performance Outputs

Cost & Pooling Accuracy
  • Analyse and validate all costs included in commodity pooling.
  • Identify variances take corrective action and maintain cost provisions.
  • Reconcile accounting revenue/costs with pooled revenue/costs.
Income Credits & Claims Verification
  • Ensure all income credits and claims from fruit sales are complete and correctly allocated.
  • Reconcile records resolve discrepancies and report on grower-related income costs and exchange-rate impacts.
Grower Advances & Payments
  • Calculate and prepare grower advances accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate payment submissions and communicate with growers.
  • Forecast grower payments using system-generated reports.

Weekly Sales & Cost Reconciliations

  • Maintain and reconcile all sales and cost transactions weekly by commodity group.
  • Review completeness analyse currency impacts and ensure robust financial tracking.

Weekly Payment Scheduling

  • Compile and schedule weekly payments in line with agreed terms.
  • Ensure accuracy and collaborate with finance.
  • Utilise ERP systems (e.g. Netsuite Oracle SAP).

Grower Financial Reporting

  • Prepare accurate timely financial information for growers.
  • Produce weekly and seasonal reports including returns per farm/grower.
  • Maintain historical grower-return records.

Commercial Team Reporting

  • Compile and distribute weekly pooled fruit return reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and address queries promptly

Requirements

Qualification /Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Finance Cost Accounting or a related field.
  • 23 years experience in cost accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience in agriculture or agricultural finance (advantageous).
  • Inventory production and costing experience (advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.

  • A relevant qualification in Finance Cost & Management Accounting (Diploma or Degree).
  • 23 years of cost accounting experience ideally within an agriculture production or inventory-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost management processes.
  • Experience working with inventory production and costing data (advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work confidently with large data sets and build accurate reports.
  • Solid computer literacy including MS Office (Excel & Word).
  • Experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite Oracle or SAP.
  • Excellent planning organising and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with professional email etiquette.
  • High attention to detail exceptional accuracy and a results-driven mindset.

Required Skills:

What Youll Bring: A keen eye for detail and a passion for getting things right the first time. 2 years of hands-on experience in sea freight exports ideally within the fruit industry. A solid understanding of export documentation shipping schedules and Incoterms. Proven ability to multitask prioritize and stay organized under tight deadlines. Required Education:

Minimum 2 years of work experience in the fruit industry with a specific focus on sea exports and related documentation.
