Director Communications
Role Summary
As a leaderof the Corporate Communications team you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the brand and business of Manulife Japan through strategic communications and CSR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
External Communications
Develop consistent and compelling corporate messaging aligned with business strategy.
Propose story ideas to generate positive media coverage with press and key influencers.
Draft effective press releases and Q&A documents.
Support planning and execution of media-related events (e.g. interviews press conferences roundtables).
Ensure accurate and timely financial disclosures in line with regulatory guidelines (e.g. quarterly reports disclosure publications).
Plan and execute social media strategies to enhance corporate branding.
Produce corporate brochures and company profiles.
Internal Communications
Support the development and execution of the annual internal communications plan.
Create and disseminate internal communications to foster engagement between management and employees and across departments.
Plan and execute internal events and meetings including company-wide town halls.
Prepare presentation materials for internal stakeholders and company-wide meetings.
Plan and execute internal information sharing initiatives (note: no printed newsletters currently).
Manage intranet content and operations.
Support cross-departmental initiatives.
Communicate and report to regional (corporate) teams.
Implement regional initiatives within the Japan office.
Review and refine Japanese translations of internal messages from regional teams.
CSR activities are integrated into both internal and external communications.
Position Type
This is ahands-on Directorrole with potential people management responsibilities.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 12 years of experience in communications or related fields.
Strong writing skills in both Japanese and English.
Strategic and analytical thinking problem-solving sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
Ability to collaborate across business lines by listening to and considering diverse group needs.
Strong influence and negotiation skills.
Ability to navigate uncertainty with flexibility and composure.
Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with all levels from executives to staff.
Willingness to proactively acquire necessary skills and knowledge including:
Project management: scheduling progress tracking document control.
Problem-solving: risk management solution development and execution.
Communication: relationship building collaboration and stakeholder-focused output using tools like PowerPoint and Excel.

Japanese & English
Writing:Capable of translating and crafting messages for internal and external audiences.
Speaking & Listening:Able to understand and share insights in meetings.
