Role Overview
We are seeking a Staff Lead Engineer with deep expertise in .NET Framework (4.54.8) and WPF desktop application development using XAML. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where youll guide a team in maintaining and modernizing a large-scale legacy desktop application while driving best practices and architectural improvements.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and technical mentor with a proven ability to balance deep technical contributions with leadership responsibilities. You will work closely with global teams to improve application performance scalability and maintainability while leading modernization efforts within an evolving tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design development and delivery of features within a large-scale WPF desktop application built on .NET Framework (4.54.8).
  • Architecture & Design: Define and implement architectural patterns to enhance performance scalability and maintainability.
  • Hands-On Development: Write high-quality maintainable code in C# leveraging WPF and XAML for rich client-side UI.
  • Modernization & Refactoring: Guide the team through refactoring efforts technical debt reduction and incremental modernization strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with backend QA DevOps and product teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance conduct code reviews and mentor mid- and senior-level engineers on best practices in WPF development.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and optimize desktop performance for responsiveness and reliability.
  • UI/UX Improvements: Collaborate with designers and product managers to ensure high-quality user-friendly interfaces.
  • Testing & Quality: Advocate for test automation and enforce quality assurance standards throughout the development process.
  • Technical Strategy: Partner with engineering leadership to define long-term technical vision and modernization roadmaps.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must be located in India.
  • 10 years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Expert-level proficiency in .NET Framework 4.54.8 C# WPF and XAML.
  • Strong understanding of MVVM architecture data binding and dependency injection.
  • Proven experience leading teams or projects within complex software systems.
  • Experience with multi-threaded applications memory management and UI performance tuning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working in distributed teams.
  • Self-motivated proactive and capable of driving initiatives independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with .NET 6 migration or modernization Framework.
  • Familiarity with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) performance profiling and debugging tools.
  • Experience integrating WCF services REST APIs or third-party libraries into WPF applications.
  • Background in CI/CD pipelines Git and modern DevOps workflows.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field.
