Job Description

Supports the Common Grounds coffee shop and/or supervisor.

Position Duties:

Under minimum supervision:

  • Greets and welcomes Common Grounds customers and offers assistance
  • Takes and prepares beverage orders
  • Performs cashier functions
  • Cleans espresso machine and restocks supplies
  • Cleans and maintains general cleanliness for coffee station work area and common area
  • May perform other like duties

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester and
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to work with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment and
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures and
  • Ability to consistently provide quality customer service to students faculty staff and the public and
  • Ability to problem-solve follow directions and be self-motivated and
  • Possess a cooperative spirit in working with peers supervisors students and the public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous cashiering experience
  • Previous Barista experience

Eligibility:

Open to all current FVCC Students enrolled in a minimum of six credits per semester.

Start Date:

This position will start Fall Semester 2025

Length of Employment:

Academic Calendar Year 2025/2026

Work Schedule:

Works between Monday and Friday flexible scheduling between 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and may work up to 19 hours per week

Dress Code:

Casual wear with appropriate coverage.

Student Employment Guidelines:

  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC
