Launched during the Prohibition Era as the Sir Francis Drake the fully renovated hotel offers todays travelers a new way to visit San Francisco. Its 418 rooms and thoughtful shared spaces bring modern design to life with restored architectural details. Guests are looked after by the hotels novel Social Hosts who create a warm convivial atmosphere as they facilitate stays that are personally tailored unique and full of discovery. Inside visitors and locals mix and mingle in the communal living room and lively gathering spot The Post Room and the iconic Starlite. With everything from walkable shops and restaurants to cable cars outside the front door the central and connected Union Square location is the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco.

We are actively searching for a Part-Time Bartender.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the bar is impeccably set and fully stocked at the start of each shift including beer wine spirits mixers paper goods straws/stirrers condiments and fresh produce based on daily forecasts and event schedules.
  • Prepare label and properly store all fresh garnishes juices and other perishables daily to maintain premium product quality and consistency.
  • Welcome guests warmly and professionally; guide them through beverage offerings take and record orders accurately and craft cocktails to brand standards with precise recipes and portion control.
  • Maintain current alcohol service certification (e.g. TIPS or equivalent) and adhere strictly to responsible service policies.
  • Uphold the highest sanitation and cleanliness standards at the bar and surrounding areas following health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Review and interpret Banquet Event Orders and daily function sheets to anticipate start times guest counts and beverage requirements; stage bar setups accordingly.
  • Post-event break down bars efficiently; return inventory equipment and glassware to designated storage and reconcile any transfers per policy.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the restaurant and banquet teams to deliver timely refined service during peak periods and events.
  • Communicate promptly with the F&B Manager regarding guest feedback special requests inventory variances or operational challenges.
  • Follow all safety procedures including proper equipment handling glassware care and spill prevention.
  • Consistently exhibit a polished gracious demeanor and a service-first mindset with guests colleagues and leadership reflecting the standards of a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of bartending experience in an upscale or luxury hotel/restaurant bar; banquet bar experience a plus.
  • Extensive classic and contemporary cocktail knowledge; confident with spirit profiles wine service and beer styles.
  • Current alcohol service certification (TIPS ServSafe Alcohol or state equivalent); food handler certification preferred.
  • Proven cash-handling/POS experience; ability to reconcile tabs and handle room charge procedures accurately.
  • Strong guest service and upselling skills; ability to personalize recommendations and curate premium experiences.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; calm under pressure in high-volume event-driven settings.
  • Meticulous attention to detail cleanliness and presentation; commitment to brand standards.
  • Ability to read and execute Banquet Event Orders and function sheets; strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs; comfortable moving bar equipment and cases safely.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays to support restaurant service and events.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with a luxury hotel setting; reliable punctual and solutions-oriented.
