The Sustaining Engineering Manager leads a team dedicated to ensuring product reliability resolving complex issues and driving continuous improvement for products in the field. Acting as a critical bridge between Support and Engineering this role combines leadership technical expertise and strategic thinking to maintain high standards of responsiveness quality and innovation. The manager will empower the team to address and fix existing products enabling core engineering teams to focus on new development.



Responsibilities

Overview:
The Sustaining Engineering Manager leads a team dedicated to ensuring product reliability resolving complex issues and driving continuous improvement for products in the field. Acting as a critical bridge between Support and Engineering this role combines leadership technical expertise and strategic thinking to maintain high standards of responsiveness quality and innovation. The manager will empower the team to address and fix existing products enabling core engineering teams to focus on new development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Sustaining Engineering team ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Foster clear communication and collaboration between Support Sustaining Engineering and Product Engineering teams.

2. Expert-Level Support

  • Lead deep troubleshooting efforts verify issue replication and provide interim workarounds when needed.
  • Categorize and prioritize issues escalating to Engineering only when root-cause analysis or code changes are required.

3. Technical Guidance & Development

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in diagnosing and fixing bugs.
  • Actively contribute to code fixes for aftermarket products using C# .NET and Angular.
  • Leverage Power BI for data visualization and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate routine tasks and streamline support processes.

4. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing through documentation training and regular syncs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless problem resolution and product enhancements.

5. Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor ticket flow and team utilization to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Implement proactive strategies to reduce recurring issues and enhance product stability.

6. Documentation & Training

  • Maintain SOPs knowledge base articles and resolution documentation to accelerate triage and onboarding.

  • Accelerate Resolution: Improve triage and troubleshooting processes for faster issue resolution.
  • Prevent Recurrence: Develop strategies to minimize recurring issues and ensure long-term product reliability.
  • Enhance Collaboration: Foster teamwork and knowledge sharing across Sustaining Engineering Support and Engineering.

Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible
Salary Range: 135000 to 168000

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in technical support or engineering with a strong software development background.
  • Hands-on coding experience in C# .NET and Angular.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and PowerShell for reporting and automation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
