Job Summary

PPG has an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist who are interested in a career in product development. The Automotive Refinish business has an opening for an S&T Development Chemist position at our facility in Allison Park PA. You will support the Refinish Allied Products team and contribute to experimental design formulation application and performance testing of new Refinish technologies. Activities include paint formulation spray application physical and chemical property testing of standard and experimental coatings and communicating results to technical leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop coatings and Allied technologies

  • Practice the scientific method to resolve technical problems.

  • Follow experimental procedures and produce reliable data.

  • Push technical projects forward with the guidance of an experienced chemist.

  • Work as part of a global team to support new product launches.

  • Design of experiments paint formulation spray application applications testing data interpretation documentation and communication of results.

  • Perform laboratory experiments with a safety-first mindset.

  • Participate in safety (6S) projects to improve lab productivity.

  • Provide recommendations that improve project goals.

  • Build productive business relationships with suppliers marketing sales customers and the broader PPG Technical community.

  • Follow corporate policies and government regulations; comply with established standards on business conduct environmental issues EEO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Materials Science Polymer Science or other STEM discipline is required

  • 3 years of formulation experience

  • Work well in a collaborative/team environment

  • Undergraduate laboratory experience
