The T55 Project Engineering team has an opening for a Sr. Advanced Project Engineer. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the interest aptitude and experience associated with the design development test and support of gas turbine engines for rotary-wing applications.



Responsibilities
  • Lead the design development and test activity through all aspects of the Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) process on schedule on budget and in compliance with all technical requirements.
  • Broad indirect span of control of approximately 6 full time equivalent engineers.
  • Cost account manager for assigned scope including Earned Value Management System reporting. Annual budgetary responsibility approximately $3M.
  • Expected to serve as the single point engineering leader for the assigned scope
    • Lead a diverse cross functional team to accomplish the scope
    • Escalate effectively with leadership and cross-functionally across the organization
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Bias toward creative thinking and innovation in product design and approach to everyday work
  • Implement design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies
  • Promote and build strong team working relationships
  • Manage within very difficult resource constraints
  • Identify gaps and risks on behalf of the team
  • Balances workload of the team members
  • Monitor work of team members to recognize when they are stuck or off track
  • Leverages technical experts to review the technical work of the team
  • Leads trade studies and RCCA activities
  • Communicate project status with internal and external customers


Qualifications
  • YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences technology engineering or mathematics
  • 5 years engineering experience in design development and/or test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex mechanical systems.

  • Bachelors in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Prior experience leading gas turbine engine design and development activities.
  • Testing of moderately complex systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Program/Project Management experience.
  • Strong cost account management skills.
  • Demonstrates a bias for action and ability to work independently.
  • Prioritizes time and resources effectively.
  • Ability to build constructive working relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to accomplish technical objectives under strict schedule constraints.
