The EEG Clinical Coordinator for the Neurophysiology Education and Training Program will report to the Program Director/ collaboration with the Program Director/Chair the EEG Clinical Coordinator oversees the clinical training hours and components of the education program. They are responsible for the development and coordination of the clinical framework. The EEG Clinical Coordinator provides students with leadership structure scheduling and direction for Electroencephalographic clinical training. They exhibit current clinical and didactic knowledge and expertise in EEG and are accountable for continued clinical competence for students in the program. The EEG Clinical Coordinator trains students in accordance with current evidence-based practices in Electroencephalography (EEG).

Job Description

Under supervision of and collaboration with the Program Director/Chair the EEG Clinical Coordinator will

  • Design prepare and initiate clinical EEG training protocols in compliance with accrediting bodies.

  • Collaborates with EEG Education Coordinator to integrate clinical hands-on learning aligning with didactic education and laboratory education.

  • Identify and implement a wide variety of hands-on integrated learning via AI simulation settings (mock hook-ups mock/simulator seizure first aid) simulation software (on machines and virtual reality)

  • Analyze and interpret didactic components of the education program to prepare and initiate synergistic EEG clinical training.

  • Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and address clinical needs and opportunities within/across the organization.

  • Ensure student clinical development and growth by creating maintaining and communicating student progress reports with the EEG Education Coordinator and Program Director.

  • Evaluate student clinical trainings progress through analysis feedback and structured reports while making necessary changes to clinical training for improvement.

  • Stay up-to-date annually with best practices advancements in the field current trends and emerging literature and incorporate them into program development.

  • Represent MUSC Health and promote the organizations mission and values at conferences workshops and other professional events related to education.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages day-to-day operations for the clinical component of the program in alliance with EEG Education Coordinator and Program Director/Chair needs.

  • Direct clinical supervision with EEG students in clinical settings.

  • Indirect clinical supervision via scheduling and education with accredited preceptors to ensure proper student oversight clinically.

  • Monitors clinical activities and oversees required documentation to comply with national accreditation standards.

Qualifications:

The EEG Clinical Director must:

  • Hold an active verifiable certification or registration within the EEG profession

  • Possess at least a certificate in Electroencephalography from an accredited CAAHEP program with advanced credentialing (CLTM); bachelors (or working towards bachelors) preferred in a life science or related field with 5 plus years of EEG experience. Or 10 years of experience without a certificate and with advanced credentialing (CLTM) with a bachelors (working towards a bachelors) in life science or related field.

  • Have a minimum of 3 (three) years clinical experience in EEG.

  • Have a minimum of 2 (two) years teaching experience in a related field.

Clinical training experience should be within the past five (5) years and may be demonstrated by: preparation and/or presentation of EEG workshops scientific sessions conferences or teleconferences; faculty rank at a university; preparation and presentation of lectures or in-service seminars; and authorship of exams computer-aided instruction course objectives or other educational materials. There should be documentation that the EEG Clinical Coordinator maintains their clinical and technical skills and participates regularly in continuing education.
