Summary: Join the PSL Aerospace team to lead UAS research flight operations and high altitude flight research
Classification Summary:
Primarily responsible for directing the operational financial regulatory human resource and business activities of a large major externally funded research division with multiple reporting units. Oversees all research activities within the domain of the division. These activities will include analyzing modifying and developing improved structure as needed.
Classification Standard Duties:
Provide oversight direction and leadership for contract maintenance renewal and new contract acquisition successes. Ensure adherence to and compliance with applicable state Federal and other government regulations and expectations of other regulatory agencies and funding source. Responsible for development and maintenance of inter-institutional/governmental relationships and other external bodies important to the future success of the research. Accountable for implementing and monitoring approved operations budget. Responsible for the supervision and management of multiple levels of technical professional administrative and support staff within the division.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the UAS/Aerospace program and UAS Flight Test Site. Leads executes and manages the program and staff. Represents the university as a member of the Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE) working complex UAS issues in policy regulations standards training operations and education.
Direct interface and reporting between PSL and the FAA DoD DHS and other industry partners customers and sponsors in support of all Aerospace related matters to include Business Development and sustainment.
Conducts research for various UAS scientific ballooning and aerospace projects. Research can include literature reviews trade studies fundamental research test design and development testing operations data post processing and analysis and reporting. Reporting may include technical reviews presentations technical reports project/program/final reports and technical journal articles.
Responsible for leading PSL/NMSU efforts in all commercial and government scientific ballooning efforts.
Prepares and/or contributes to the preparation of reports briefings presentations and responses on strategic planning issues. Provide input to the Director and supports research at the University.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the FAA UAS Flight Test Sites the FAA ASSURE UAS Center of Excellence or equivalate experience in UAS testing environment.
Understanding of UAS UAS integration into the National Airspace and a Part 107 Pilot.
Experience with testing operation or support of Counter UAS systems.
Experience in leading large complex contracts and proposal development initiatives .
Experience with high altitude ballooning and experimental environment.
Special Requirements of the Position
Ability to obtain a DoD clearance and maintain clearance throughout employment.
This position is subject to random drug testing in compliance with its drug-free workforce requirements.
Travel is required.
