Position Purpose:
The Surgical Scheduler is an ancillary nursing team member who functions under the direct guidance of the Charge Nurse and Director/ Manager of Surgical Services and Manager of Perioperative Services.
What the Surgical Scheduler Will Do:
Computer data entry activities including daily monthly and yearly stats concerning all aspects of surgical procedures
Ordering and checking in of all office supplies in the Surgical Services Department
Building of the daily Surgical Services employee call schedule
Scheduling of all procedures to be done in Surgery Endoscopy Outpatient Infusion Clinic and Preadmission Testing
Open and active communication with the surgery managers for coordination of block time scheduling and staffing needs
Communicate and coordinate with surgeons schedulers and pre-registration
Interact with Inventory Coordinator for needed special equipment
The Scheduler works directly with other hospital departments ordering equipment tests and needed maintenance along with coordinating patient needs
Works directly with other hospitals and doctor offices obtaining accurate patient information to be entered into the computer to build a daily schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum: Current High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: CNA or MA preferred
Related Experience Preferred: CNA or MA experience
