Part-time Reserve Custodian

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum has an opening for a highly motivated flexible individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills for a Part-timeReserve Custodian(16 hours per week Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00am to 1:30pm) to join the Custodialteam.

Job Title: Part-time Reserve Custodian

Department: Custodial

Reports To: Custodial Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $16.49 per hour

Summary

Keeps Museum buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Cleans external and internal areas of buildings including dusting polishing sweeping mopping stripping and waxing floors.
  • Cleans childrens indoor play area in Packrat Playhouse.
  • Cleans and disinfects restrooms including toilets urinals sinks all fixtures and high touch areas.
  • Cleans all glass inside and out except for exhibits.
  • Vacuum spot clean shampoo and extracts carpets.
  • Launders linen and makes both 1 and 2 bedroom guest houses ready for guests.
  • Replenishes supplies in restrooms custodial closets and kitchens.
  • Empties wastebaskets and garbage containers and transports waste to disposal area.
  • Empties and recycles all recycle containers and transports to recycle area.
  • Cleans all sidewalk and patio areas by removing all debris and gum using brooms blower hose and gum removing supplies.
  • Cleans and disposes of biohazards as trained by supervisor.
  • Cleans up after emergencies such as floods and other unforeseen events.
  • Reports all repairs needed.
  • Set-up and breakdown of furniture and equipment for meetings and events as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to be trained to perform basic data entry for timekeeping and e-mail purposes.
