Night Shift Inpatient Pharmacist High-Acuity Acute Care Hospital (Contract Arizona Region)
Overview
A high-acuity acute care hospital in the Arizona region is seeking an experienced Night Shift Pharmacist to support critical inpatient pharmacy operations. This role provides clinical and operational coverage for complex patient populations including critical care cardiac NICU and other high-acuity units. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment comfort with advanced therapeutics and the ability to work independently during overnight hours. This is a 13-week contract offering highly competitive compensation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive overnight order verification for high-acuity patient populations
- Support medication dispensing workflows including sterile compounding when required
- Provide clinical pharmacotherapy oversight for ICU cardiac NICU and medically complex patients
- Review and optimize medication regimens based on clinical status labs and established protocols
- Respond to urgent medication requests and provide real-time drug information support to care teams
- Support advanced cardiac and critical care therapies (e.g. vasopressors sedation ECMO/Impella medication management)
- Ensure accurate documentation within pharmacy systems and the electronic health record
- Maintain compliance with state federal and hospital medication regulations
- Participate in medication safety and quality initiatives as needed
- Collaborate with overnight nursing and medical teams to ensure timely safe medication use
Qualifications- Active pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain)
- Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required; experience in high-acuity or critical care units strongly preferred
- Strong clinical decision-making abilities and familiarity with complex medication protocols
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
- Ability to work independently on night shift in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Resume and professional references validating recent clinical experience
