Job Summary

As the Operator Competency Advisor you are responsible for collaborating with various operating groups to develop and deliver competency-based programs. These programs are designed to establish KPI-driven targets that clearly define and measure operator performance expectations. Additionally you will continuously assess and refine the program content to ensure it meets evolving industry standards and organizational needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver competency programs in classroom and one-on-one settings for new hires operators and assessors
  • Tailor competency approaches to meet successor needs and prepare them to evaluate operators effectively
  • Conduct accurate consistent field assessments of operator and assessor performance and safety
  • Develop administer and record written and practical assessments in Workday Learn with actionable feedback
  • Visit project sites to support and certify competent assessors through program application
  • Monitor and audit competency program effectiveness materials and documentation for quality and compliance
  • Identify improvement opportunities and ensure consistent competency delivery organization-wide
  • Advise and communicate with stakeholders on internal standards competency requirements and regulatory updates
  • Maintain accuracy and validity of certifications (e.g. First Aid equipment-specific) and regulatory compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture addressing unsafe practices and ensuring adherence to company policies

Qualifications:

  • Holds relevant Competency certifications (e.g. Certified Technical Advisor Train-the-Advisor) is preferred
  • Must have a valid Class 5 license
  • 4 years of relevant industry experience operating or dealing directly with equipment.
  • 4 years experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrates strong ability to provide constructive guidance and advice through a collaborative approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven knowledge of mobile equipment safety practices
  • Proficient in writing Field Level Hazard Assessments
  • Basic computer literacy including experience with Outlook MS Word Excel PowerPoint and PDFs
  • Technologically savvy and quick to embrace new equipment technologies
  • Ability to provide remote learning when required
  • Either holds or has the ability to work towards a Class 3 and Class 1 license
  • Holding valid and current certifications for Fall Arrest Elevated Work Platform Telehandler and Forklift is an asset. Certifications must be maintained in good standing once issued

Working Conditions:

  • Office based role
  • Approximately 50% travel required to various site locations
