Senior Director Financial Clearance-Patient Financial Services-Corporate 42nd Street-Full-Time Days

The Senior Director Financial Clearance is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for directing and optimizing all front-end revenue cycle functions across The Mount Sinai Hospital and affiliated entities. This role plays a pivotal part in driving the organizations financial health and sustainability through the development and execution of innovative patient-centered financial services strategies. The Senior Director ensures that every patient interaction with the financial system is seamless compassionate and aligned with Mount Sinais commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience. As a key executive stakeholder the Senior Director partners with senior leadership to shape policy improve access to care and ensure regulatory compliance while enhancing operational performance and revenue integrity.
The Senior Director leads the Financial Clearance Department overseeing vital functions such as insurance verification pre-registration emergency and elective admissions screening and financial counseling. This includes services for inpatient outpatient clinic inter-institutional transfers and international patients. The role collaborates across departments and with executive leaders to promote a high-functioning consumer-focused financial experience.
This position also serves on the High-Risk Evaluation Committee and acts as a trusted advisor to:

  • Transfer Services Department
  • International Services Department
  • Rehabilitation Division
  • Institutional Affiliates


Responsibilities

  • Financial Counseling and Patient Advocacy

  • Self-Pay Receivables Management
  • Vendor and Partner Relations
  • Customer Service Excellence
  • Outpatient Cashiering
  • Adherence to Regulatory and Compliance Guidelines


Strategic Expectations and Enterprise Impact:

  • Enterprise Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial access strategies that directly impact organizational revenue performance bad debt reduction and patient satisfaction metrics.
  • Patient-Centered Design: Champion initiatives that prioritize a transparent empathetic and supportive financial journey for all patientsfrom point of entry to final resolution.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish robust performance metrics and analytics to drive continuous improvement across patient financial services and to inform executive leadership decisions.
  • Talent and Culture Development: Lead mentor and empower a high-performing team of managers supervisors and frontline staff fostering a culture of accountability innovation and service excellence.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure accuracy and integrity in patient demographic data collection and insurance processing to support timely billing and reimbursement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Patient Accounting and other departments to optimize front-end processes minimize denials and drive revenue cycle efficiency.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors in business Health Administration or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 5-10 years Financial Clearance Patient Access or Revenue Cycle Experience
  • MS Office Excel EPIC

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $153723.00 - $230584.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
