Description

The Team
The Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health (ICYMH) Outreach Team based in Surrey and serving the Delta Langley Surrey South Surrey and White Rock areas provides culturally grounded mental health support to Indigenous children and youth through both traditional and clinical approaches. Guided by the Circle of Courage and a holistic view of wellness the team walks alongside families in an outreach capacity blending Indigenous teachings community knowledge and therapeutic interventions to promote healing and resilience.

The Role
The Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Outreach Clinician plays a vital role in supporting the mental emotional spiritual and physical well-being of Indigenous children youth and families through relationship-based culturally informed care. Working collaboratively with Indigenous communities schools hospitals and service providers this position helps strengthen community capacity promote early intervention and enhance access to holistic mental health supports.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling Social Work Educational Counselling Clinical Counselling Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Masters level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Drivers license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Experience providing mental health services to Indigenous people and communities.
  • Experience providing services utilizing an outreach model.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position but at a lower classification.
