About the Role
Great Basin Staffing is hiring Experienced Coaxial Technicians (Coax Splicers) to support aerial/underground HFC plant upgrades maintenance and turn-ups across the Albuquerque area. Youll handle splicing activation sweep/balance troubleshooting and documentation while coordinating with a small field crew and client contacts. Schedule flexibility matterssome night/weekend cut windows may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform coax splicing and activation on aerial & underground plant (nodes actives passives).
Prep/label splice cases/closures install taps EQs splitters and couplers per spec.
Sweep and balance RF; verify forward/reverse path and return levels.
Test/troubleshoot using signal level meters leakage meters TDR/DSAM; resolve impairments.
Read/interpret prints strand maps redlines; update as-builts and daily production logs.
Set and maintain safe work zones (cones signs barriers); pole climbing/bucket work as required.
Operate and maintain assigned vehicle tools and test equipment; complete daily inspections.
Communicate professionally with customers/GCs; provide timely job status updates.
Adhere to OSHA/NESC and company safety policies at all times.
Required Qualifications
2 years verifiable coax splicing/activation experience in HFC networks.
Proficiency with sweep/balance signal level/leakage meters and basic TDR.
Knowledge of RF components tap values tilt/return path concepts and coax color codes.
Ability to read work orders prints and splice schematics; complete cut sheets accurately.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; acceptable driving record.
Able to work outdoors at heights and in confined spaces; lift/carry 55 lbs.
Willing to work variable hours including night/weekend cut windows as needed.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Certified pole climber or demonstrated climbing proficiency; bucket truck experience.
DOT medical card (or ability to obtain); CDL-A a plus.
Basic fiber knowledge (VFL/OTDR familiarity) for mixed HFC/fiber nodes.
Schedule & Working Conditions
Full-time hourly; standard day shift with occasional night/weekend work for activations.
Outdoor field work; exposure to weather traffic and moderate-to-loud noise.
Frequent standing climbing kneeling overhead work; vision demands include close/distance/color/peripheral/depth focus.
Pay & Benefits (W2)
$22.00 $27.00/hr DOE OT potential; weekly pay.
Eligibility for benefits (medical/dental/vision/401k/PTO) per assignment and company policy.
