Position Title: Data Analyst

Location: Phoenix AZ (Remote with occasional in-office meetings)
Agency: Arizona Department of Veterans Services (AZDVS)
Position Type: Staff Augmentation
Hours per Week: 20
Duration: Approximately 7 months (starting December 1 2025)
Security: Background check and drug screening required
Travel: None

Position Overview

The State of Arizona is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to support statewide efforts to end veteran homelessness as part of the Homes to Heroes initiative. This role involves collecting and synthesizing data from existing databases in three key areas:

Veteran and homeless veteran population demographics
Financial resources allocated to homeless veteran initiatives
Service-related resources

The data will establish a baseline of current demographics and resources enabling projections for the next ten years. These projections will identify resource gaps and inform a comprehensive state plan to end veteran homelessness. Key Responsibilities

Collect clean and validate data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Analyze datasets to identify trends patterns and insights.
Perform statistical analysis to predict future resource needs.
Communicate findings and projections clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with program coordinators directors and project teams.
Attend virtual meetings and occasional in-office stakeholder sessions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Data Science Statistics Mathematics Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and data science techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Military service experience or background working with veteran populations.
Knowledge of challenges facing service providers and veterans experiencing homelessness.
Experience in similar roles (2 years preferred).

Working Conditions

Remote position; laptop and cell phone provided.
