The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality compassionate and timely care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced 36-bed Emergency Department that serves approximately 59000 patients annually. The ED RN is responsible for rapid assessment prioritization intervention and evaluation of patients presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions. This role requires strong critical thinking collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive and focused assessments of patients presenting with emergent urgent or non-urgent conditions. Triage patients using evidence-based triage protocols to determine acuity levels and initiate appropriate care. Provide rapid intervention and stabilization for patients experiencing medical surgical traumatic psychiatric and pediatric emergencies. Administer medications treatments and procedures in accordance with hospital policy and provider orders. Operate and monitor medical equipment such as cardiac monitors infusion pumps ventilators and point-of-care testing devices. Collaborate with physicians advanced practice providers respiratory therapists EMS personnel and other healthcare team members. Coordinate patient care including diagnostic testing re-evaluation disposition planning and patient education. Document assessments interventions and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record. Participate in rapid response trauma activations code blue stroke and STEMI protocols as required. Maintain strict adherence to infection control safety guidelines and hospital standards. Support a culture of patient-centered care empathy and service excellence in a high-volume ED environment. Qualifications Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oklahoma (or compact license). Current BLS ACLS and PALS certification. Preferred/Required within timeframe after hire: TNCC and ENPC certifications. Prior experience in Emergency Nursing Critical Care or high-acuity settings. Skills & Abilities Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-volume fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork ability. Competency in trauma care cardiac care and stabilizing critically ill patients. Ability to remain calm and focused during high-stress situations. Working Conditions Fast-paced high-acuity Emergency Department with 36 beds. Frequent exposure to trauma and critical illness. Requires standing walking lifting and performing physical tasks throughout the shift. Collaboration with a diverse healthcare team and EMS partners serving the Lawton community and surrounding areas.
