Position: Developer III - Software Engineering

Location: Frisco TX/Alpharetta GA

Duration: 11 Months

Job Description

Required Skills & Qualifications

5 years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
3 years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS and related services (CloudWatch IAM S3 Lambda).
Strong understanding of SQL PL/pgSQL and query optimization techniques.
Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g. pgAdmin Datadog AWS CloudWatch).
Familiarity with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
Knowledge of disaster recovery planning high availability and replication strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data migration from on-prem to AWS RDS.
Exposure to Terraform CloudFormation or other IaC tools.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD integration.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL extensions (e.g. PostGIS pgstatstatements).

Key Responsibilities

Design configure and maintain AWS RDS PostgreSQL instances for production and non-production environments.
Monitor database performance identify bottlenecks and optimize queries and indexing strategies.
Implement backup and recovery strategies including automated snapshots and point-in-time recovery.
Manage database security including user roles access controls and encryption.
Support operations teams with incident resolution root cause analysis and on-call troubleshooting.
Perform database upgrades patching and schema changes with minimal downtime.
Automate routine tasks using scripts and AWS tools (e.g. Lambda CloudWatch Systems Manager).
Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
Document database configurations procedures and operational runbooks.
