Our client is a growing national company that services the abrasive blasting industry. They provide equipment solutions and technical support to clients across multiple sectors including industrial manufacturing and government facilities. They are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Tidewater VA.
Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance troubleshooting and repair of diesel and electric-powered equipment used in abrasive blasting operations. This position involves local travel occasional overnight stays and service support at government facilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance repairs and troubleshooting on diesel engines including oil and filter changes fuel system service and PTO adjustments.

Diagnose and repair 12 VDC and 120 460 VAC electrical systems and controls.

Inspect maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic pneumatic and power drive systems.
-
Support field operations and service calls at customer and government facilities.
-
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of PPE including respirators.

Operate and maintain company vehicles and tools responsibly.
-
Travel overnight as required to complete service assignments.
-
Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning new systems and contributing to team success.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
-
No felony conviction; access to government facilities is required.

Basic understanding of diesel engines electrical systems and hydraulics.

Working knowledge of compressed air and pneumatic systems preferred.
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
-
Must be able to wear and pass fit testing for a half-mask two-cartridge respirator (facial hair may need to be shaven).

Strong mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.

Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team.
