The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Southcoast Region Construction is looking for an Engineering Technician - Sub Journey 3 in Haines to help us Keep Alaska Moving

What You Will Be Doing:
Under the direct supervision of a Construction Project Manager and general direction of a Project Engineer serves as a construction inspector office engineer or materials testing technician performing sub-professional engineering work in the field or in an office.

This position plays a vital role in providing transportation infrastructure improvements for use by the traveling public in urban and rural communities in Coastal Alaska which includes Southeast Alaska Kodiak and the Aleutian Chain.

Southcoast Regions projects are constructed from Southeast Alaskas temperate maritime rainforests to Southwest Alaskas chain of wind-swept grassy volcanic islands. Projects varying in size and scope from small low-dollar-value projects to large and complex multimillion-dollar projects.

The work demands are steady and/or fast-paced in a team-oriented atmosphere. Candidates can expect a steady workload in a variety of different transportation infrastructure improvement projects. The position may operate out of Construction Field Offices working in the field alongside Construction Contractors as well as in the regional office or field office.

Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.

Minimum Qualifications

Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral except for promotions demotions transfers and emergency appointments.
