About the Role

Paralegals play a pivotal role within the Northern Land Council (NLC) Legal service supporting lawyers as they provide essential legal services. These services are aligned with the NLCs statutory functions under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act and Native Title Act. Our legal team work tirelessly to safeguard the rights and interests of Indigenous communities promoting sustainable development and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Our paralegals support our legal team with a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities from conducting legal research and administrative tasks to document preparation. Youll also play a crucial role in helping Aboriginal individuals groups and associations realize their goals for self-determination and holistic development.

What you will Bring

As a paralegal youll operate as a consummate professional. Support our legal team with your exceptional interpersonal oral and written communication skills. Your role will allow you to use your highly developed legal research skills providing the critical foundation for our legal addition to this you will be/have: -

  • Currently enrolled as a student of law and/or significant past paralegal experience.
  • Experience in accessing complex databases including the use of Microsoft 365.
  • Sound ICT literacy including use of information management software and systems and Microsoft Office Suite 365.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence

We offer:

  • A base salary of $68986 per annum plus 15% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15900 Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
  • District allowance of up to $4631 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2539 without dependents.
  • 5 weeks annual leave leaving loading 18 days personal leave;
  • Paid Christmas close down;
  • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2724
