Linux Support Engineer (L1)

Experience:1 4 Years in Technical Support or System AdminReports toTeam Lead Linux Support
Role Summary:
We are looking for a Linux Support Engineer (L1) to be the first point of contact for technical issues. You will be responsible for system monitoring initial alert triage and resolving common operational incidents to ensure system stability and performance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring & Triage: Proactively monitor system health (e.g. using OMI) acknowledge alerts and perform first-line investigation and diagnosis to assess priority.
- Incident Resolution: Resolve common Level 1 issues independently (e.g. service restarts disk space cleanup user management log analysis).
- Escalation: Escalate complex incidents to L2/L3 engineers with clear detailed initial findings.
- System Maintenance: Execute standard operational procedures including user administration basic server provisioning and following patch management procedures for OS security compliance.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation and contribute to the teams knowledge base.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 23 years in technical support or system administration.
- Linux Fundamentals: Hands-on experience with major distributions (RHEL SUSE Ubuntu).
- Core Commands: Understanding of fundamental commands for file/process management (grep awk sed) and Linux filesystem hierarchy/permissions.
- Troubleshooting: Logical problem-solving mindset and familiarity with using a ticketing system.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills to communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP DNS).
- Exposure to scripting (Bash Python) or core services (SSH Apache).
- Relevant Linux certification (e.g. RHCE).
- Experience in a 24/7 shift environment.
