Position Overview

Fort River Elementary School is seeking an Elementary Math Coach. The Elementary Math Coach provides individualized and small group instruction to students to strengthen mathematical understanding and achievement. This position is designed to support classroom instruction promote data-informed decision making and collaborate closely with teachers and administrators to enhance math instruction across the elementary grade levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small group math instruction to students based on assessment data and teacher recommendations.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and implement effective strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

  • Work with grade-level teams and administrators to analyze student data identify learning gaps and plan targeted interventions.

  • Support classroom teachers by modeling high-quality math instruction and sharing best practices in lesson design pacing and formative assessment.

  • Participate in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) planning and help design appropriate academic interventions for students.

  • Communicate regularly with families teachers and administrators regarding student progress and instructional strategies.

  • Assist in aligning instruction with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district goals for mathematics.

  • Contribute to a positive inclusive and collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement.

  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current on research-based mathematics instruction and intervention practices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE Elementary (Grades 16) license or Mathematics license.

  • Demonstrated success teaching mathematics at the elementary level.

  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies.

  • Excellent communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students colleagues and families.

Preferred:

  • Experience providing math intervention or instructional coaching.

  • Familiarity with MTSS formative assessment and data-driven instruction.

  • Training or coursework in math education numeracy development or related areas.

Work Environment

  • This is a Unit A teaching position under the Amherst Pelham Education Association (APEA) contract.

  • The Math Coach will work collaboratively within the school community and may serve multiple elementary buildings as assigned by the district.
