Oxford High Schoolis seeking a dedicated and student-centered Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to support the academic social-emotional and postsecondary planning needs of high school students during a temporary leave period. The successful candidate will join a collaborative counseling department and contribute to a positive inclusive school environment that promotes student well-being resilience and achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must hold or be eligible for CT certification 068
Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students academic progress personal development and social-emotional needs.
Assist students with academic planning including course selection graduation requirements and scheduling adjustments.
Support postsecondary planning activities including college and career readiness scholarship applications and military or vocational pathways.
Collaborate with teachers administrators families and external agencies to create and implement student support plans.
Serve as a member of building-level student intervention and support teams as needed (e.g. MTSS Student Attendance Team).
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with district policies.
Respond to crisis situations and support the schools crisis intervention protocols.
Contribute to the development and delivery of classroom guidance lessons and school-wide initiatives.
