Programme Overview:

Scotiabank offers an outstanding opportunity for students to gain real hands-on experience through our Global Capital Markets Summer Internship programme commencing in June 2026.

This 10-week programme is designed for students in their penultimate year of study who are eager to learn and have a passion for financial markets.

Capital Markets spans a number of predominantly client facing business functions and as such we encourage applications from broad array of disciplines. From risk taking trading roles to client relationship management (typically known as Sales or DCM functions) and from developed to emerging markets Scotiabanks rotational-style programme offers a truly exceptional foundational experience for any candidate with a keen interest in markets.

As an intern you will gain exceptional insights into the daily workings of several specific Capital Markets desks including:

  • CMF: Collateral Management & Funding
  • Debt Capital Markets
  • FX Relationship Management/Sales
  • Global Fixed Income & Emerging Markets Relationship Management/Sales
  • Prime Services

What You Can Expect:

During the programme you will:

  • Shadow traders to learn risk management techniques and develop key trading/market making skills in a live market environment
  • Be immersed in real-world business development and client acquisition experiences offering a firm grounding ina truly global client basespanning; official institutions bank treasury desks global asset managers pension funds and alternative asset managers
  • Interact with stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations
  • Complete a variety of key business-line projects which includes preparing market commentary analysing client trading data and other ad hoc tasks
  • Within relationship management understand client investment patterns/behaviours to add value to our clients portfolio decisions
  • Develop an understanding of Scotiabanks products services risk appetite and risk culture
  • Deliver a final presentation to leaders within Capital Markets

Programme Highlights:

Our internship is designed to give you real insight into life at Scotiabank. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities youll take part in:

  • A weekly speaker series with leaders from across the Bank
  • Peer to peer intern presentations
  • Social and networking events
  • A CSR project that supports one of our charity partners

Upon completion of the internship exceptional interns will be considered for entry onto our 2027 Global Capital Markets Rotational Graduate Programme where they will rotate across several desks with the goal of obtaining a permanent position within Global Banking and Markets.

Who Were Looking For:

  • You are a penultimate year university student graduating in summer 2027
  • We welcome applications from any degree discipline
  • Available for a 10-week internship between mid-June to end of August 2026
  • 2nd language skills (Italian/French/Spanish/German) are advantageous (but not compulsory)
  • You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets
  • You are able to build and maintain relationships with clients stakeholders and colleagues
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • You have the ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
  • You have full working rights in Ireland
