Job Summary
Creative art therapy provision to children who have no or limited verbal skills who receive preventative services and child welfare Art Therapist to work with children receiving Preventive Services who have limited verbal skills and are at risk for placement. Art therapist will be responsible for seeing children with developmental and/or neurological disorders who can benefit from creative therapeutic services. Clients reside in all 5 boroughs of NYC and home visits will be required.

Use positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Remains flexible and adapts to change.
Remains sensitive and responsive to cultural differences between program participants and staff.
Participate in in-service training and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development. Attend external training and workshops at the direction of management.
Willing to make home visits.
Completes documentation in compliance with the NYC Administration of Children Services.
Provides crisis intervention services and safety plans as needed.
Works collaboratively with collateral contacts team members and internal and external providers and documents all accordingly.
Participate in weekly supervision.
Will follow the legal and ethical standards of theAmerican Art Therapy Association(AATA) Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) New York State Education Department Office of Profession (NYSOP).
Qualifications
Masters degree in Creative Arts Therapy
A New York State Limited Permit and/or License in Creative Arts Therapy
Have a background in mental health counseling with adults youth and families
Interest in professional growth and working with youth and families affected by trauma mental illness and/or foster care placement
Ability to document progress notes into statewide system
Excellent written verbal and organizational skills are required
