Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations supporting project teams and partnering with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and subcontractor payments
- Manage accounts receivable and cash receipts
- Maintain subcontractor documentation (e.g. lien waivers contracts)
- File sales & use tax returns (DC MD VA)
- Perform monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Oversee invoice workflow and ensure proper routing for approvals
- Support year-end audit with external accounting firm
- Conduct weekly check runs for miscellaneous payables
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency across accounting functions
- Maintain adherence to internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
- 3 years of accounting experience (construction industry required)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes
