About the role

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is looking for an exceptional Auckland based Services Director to lead our Services Department through a pivotal season of growth and transformation as we deliver our refreshed Debt Help services.


Reporting directly to the CEO this is a unique opportunity to be part of CAPs Executive Leadership Team playing a key role in shaping the organisation. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with exceptional leadership skills to drive a high performing culture of impact collaboration and continuous learning.


In this role youll be responsible for overseeing the operations of the strategic direction of the Services team. With 3 direct reports and a team of 30 plus and partnering with over 100 churches you will lead the team responsible for outworking CAPs vision of ending money chaos in Aotearoa.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Collaboratively lead the organisation on an executive level bringing service delivery expertise across internal and external opportunities
  • Execute and manage the outworking of the end-to-end services delivery and services improvement towards mission impact
  • Partner with a diverse range of stakeholders across churches coaches and the sector
  • Lead the trialing of new and innovative approaches and projects
  • Lead and manage the Services Department
  • Execute and develop CAPs long-term services delivery plan toward future impact
  • Lead CAPs Comments and Complaints process


About you

You are an experienced executive level leader excited to bring your leadership and expertise to enable the greatest possible impact for whānau experiencing money chaos in Aotearoa.

You are an influential leader who challenges yourself and others. You dont opt to take a path of least resistance. Instead you leverage your skills and expertise to do what is right for the kaupapa and the people youre serving.

You are ready to undertake a journey not only committed to your own professional and personal transformation but you are deeply invested in enabling transformation in others.


Youll also bring relevant experience for the role:

  • A strong personal alignment with the foundational Christian philosophy organisational identity culture and values of CAP
  • 5 years proven experience in a similar role
  • Proven ability to lead and build a team including leading leaders to increased purpose and work delivery and through change initiatives
  • Excellent strategic and decision making abilities with a proven track record of developing and outworking a strategic initiative
  • Strong experience balancing both strategic and operational priorities and requirements
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to positively
    influence team culture and performance
  • Strong discernment and ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations
  • Strong negotiation influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate organisational work and programmes to increasingly honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi
