The Opportunity

Under the supervision of Dr. Justine Dol as the Accelerate Research Chair in Women Health the Research Coordinator will be dedicated to working with Dr. Justine Dol on women research projects. The primary project will be to identify priorities for women health in the Maritime Provinces using a priority setting partnership approach. The successful candidate will also support additional research projects relevant to women health. The responsibilities of the position include a range of administrative and research-related duties.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:


Preparing ethics applications and research protocols to conduct research related to women health including a patient-orientated priority setting partnership study related to women health priorities across the Maritimes
Conducting a review and environmental scan on women health related research and clinical care
Conducting qualitative interviews and leading qualitative analysis
Maintaining excellent professional and collaborative relationships with families and patients as well as clinical staff (physicians nurses ward clerks etc.)
Project and data management
Preparing documents for REB review and ensuring adherence to IWK Health REB and TCPS-2 policies
Conducting literature searches and drafting evidence summaries manuscripts and/or presentations
Preparation of quantitative data sets and analysis
Clear and transparent communications virtually in person email telephone etc.
Other research related duties as required

Hours of Work

This in-person role at IWK Health in Halifax Nova Scotia is a 6-month position for 37.5 hours per week with the possibility of extension. Hours of work will typically be required during business hours (M-F 8am-4pm) but may vary depending on study requirements with some weekends and evenings required.

Your Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a health-related field with a masters degree in a health-related field strongly preferred
Applied research experience with human participants preferred
Experience working on health-related research projects with experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodology
Experience with event planning and/or organizing events preferred
Experience with using research computer programs and software (e.g. REDCap Zotero SPSS R Meditech)
Attention to detail with a high regard for quality
High degree of computer literacy and internet resourcefulness (e.g. Zoom Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Acrobat etc.)
Excellent time management and a demonstrated ability to establish and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
Professionalism good interpersonal skills including the ability to interact well with families and vulnerable populations
Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Experience in a related role in a health centre or university/academic environment an asset
Experience with science communication knowledge mobilization and/or patient partnership an asset
