Job Responsibilities:
Leadership and Daily Operations
- Lead the shift team in the control room ensuring all procedures are followed.
- Approve and oversee plant start-ups shut-downs and major equipment changes.
- Analyze plant data to find ways to improve efficiency and save energy.
- Take charge during emergencies until the Supervisor arrives.
- Train and mentor junior technicians to improve their skills.
- Act as the supervisor when needed handling daily operations and management reports
Technical Expertise and Problem Solving
- Primary troubleshooter for complex issues with chillers pumps cooling towers electrical systems and control panels (BMS/PLC).
- Lead investigations into equipment failures to find the root cause and implement permanent fixes.
- Use technical drawings and manuals to guide the teams work.
- Oversee the installation of new equipment to ensure it works correctly
Maintenance and Reliability
- Perform and guide preventive maintenance tasks.
- Plan and lead major maintenance projects and shutdowns coordinating with contractors.
- Recommend which critical spare parts should be kept in stock.
- Check that all maintenance work by the team and vendors is completed to a high standard
Safety and Administration
- Promote a strong safety culture by leading safety meetings and risk assessments.
- Ensure the team follows all safety policies and legal requirements.
- Write clear and accurate technical incident and maintenance reports.
- Accurately manage the maintenance tracking system (CMMS) for work orders and parts
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical Electronics Engineering or equivalent disciplines is preferred. Strong experience without a degree will also be considered.
- Certifications: TESDA NC II in RAC or a related trade. Extra certifications in Chiller Operation HVAC or Safety (BOSH/COSH) are a plus.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a large chiller plant (1000 TR or larger). Cadet Engineers with strong desire to learn and lead my apply.
- Proven experience in a senior or lead technician role.
- Troubleshooting centrifugal screw and magnetic chillers.
- Working with electrical systems (up to 480V) motor controls and VFDs.
- Operating and understanding Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls.
- Maintaining hydronic systems (pumps valves water treatment).
- Promote a strong safety culture by leading safety meetings and risk assessments.
- Ensure the team follows all safety policies and legal requirements.
- Write clear and accurate technical incident and maintenance reports.
- Accurately manage the maintenance tracking system (CMMS) for work orders and parts.
