The Director Acquisitions Partnerships & Expansion will support the Acquisitions Partnerships & Expansion team with furthering their mandate by driving Global Wealth Managements (GWM) execution of Scotiabanks expansion strategy through Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) strategic partnerships and organic growth initiatives.
Is this role right for you In this role you will:
- Identify pursue and manage M&A transactions strategic partnerships and complex commercial arrangements with the objective of expanding GWMs business
- Provide M&A transactional structuring strategic negotiation and tactical advice and counsel to GWMs senior executive management team and business lines and various key support functions
- Collaborate with the Banks Strategic Transactions & Review and M&A Legal teams to evaluate negotiate structure and execute acquisitions and develop and implement financial models valuations synergies budgets and transaction strategies for acquisition candidates
- Make strategically important decisions in the context of a demanding time sensitive and complex transactional environment including deal strategy and tactics transactional terms and conditions and legal and structural significance which have the potential to significantly impact the Bank
- Perform complex evaluations of acquisition and partnership candidates and other commercial counterparties in high volume due diligence exercises to identify and assess legal commercial and reputational risks and contingencies that impact valuation pricing the ability to complete a transaction and ensure Bank objectives are met
- Lead the build-out of comprehensive post-acquisition integration strategies and acquire endorsement and resource commitments from Center of Excellences bank-wide to support execution
- Assess and implement integration opportunities in connection with the Banks M&A transactions with a view to achieving defined transactional synergies ensuring business strategies plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if you have:
- A postgraduate education in business finance economics or commensurate work experience
- 10 years experience in consulting corporate development investment banking or similar role
- 5 years experience in Wealth Management or Asset Management
- Extensive experience leading large complex projects with many internal/external stakeholders
- Experience with M&A valuation financial modeling transaction synergies and integration planning
- Experience evaluating structuring and negotiating complex M&A transaction and commercial partnerships
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in building and starting up new businesses and/or expanding existing businesses
- An ability to strategically influence stakeholders and drive decision-making processes
- Extensive experience presenting to senior executives
