About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is expanding its footprint and were seeking an inspiring forward-thinking Vice President of Operations (VPOPS) to help lead the growth of our new Los Angeles Office. In this pivotal role you will guide the implementation of IEIs market-growth strategy in Southern California ensuring alignment with our firmwide business objectives and the unique opportunities of the LA region.
As VPOPS you will serve as a key driver of business performance partnering closely with leaders across Project Delivery Business Development Marketing Human Resources and Accounting. You will cultivate and strengthen client relationships empower technical and office leadership in both business development and project execution and represent IEI at industry organizations and community events. You will also collaborate with firm Principals to support strategic government relations initiatives.
With a focus on transportation and infrastructure you will expand IEIs presence among leading public-sector partners including LA County Public Works LA Metro Caltrans and the City of Los Angeles while elevating our brand and opening new avenues for growth. This role blends visionary oversight with hands-on leadership in pipeline development pursuit strategy and local market positioning.

Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic oversight and guidance across all technical disciplines to deliver high-quality project elements including plans specifications permits and reports.
Uphold IEIs Quality Control standards across all projects promoting accuracy consistency and engineering excellence.
Confirm that project teams have all required agreements (contracts NTPs subconsultant agreements) in place before initiating services.
Monitor scope budget and schedule to protect the firm from risk; communicate deviations promptly and proactively to clients and internal leadership.
Provide oversight of teams in meeting client goals anticipating challenges and addressing issues that may affect successful delivery.
Lead and support contract negotiations collaborating with clients to develop clear scopes fees and schedules.
Manage and mentor technical staff; partner with other office and discipline leaders to allocate resources and provide teams with what they need to succeed.
Forecast local staffing needs and align them with available capacity across the firm collaborating with leadership to balance workload resource allocation and hiring priorities.
Provide regular updates to the Executive Vice President on office performance key priorities and emerging opportunities.
Partner with the Executive Vice President and Human Resources on talent management including hiring performance reviews recognition development and corrective actions.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree in either Engineering Marketing or Business from an accredited fouryear college or university or approved equivalent required
Professional Engineer (PE) License in CA required; PMP required; MA or MBA preferred
Minimum 20 years of experience including prior Executive Leadership roles a must
Ideally advanced level understanding of A/E/C Industry and Government Affairs is preferred
Familiarity with Government Contracts; including experience in government work within LA County Public Works; LA Metro; CalTrans; City of LA Public Works
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency with ERP and CRM platforms in a corporate or consulting environment (e.g. Deltek Paycor); ability to leverage systems for operational and business insights.
Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Teams.
Advanced presentation communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams clients and industry partners.
Other Qualifications:
* Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Extensive experience in the AEC industry including direct work with government agencies and public-sector contracts.
Background in civil and/or structural engineering consulting highly desirable.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% including occasional overnight trips throughout the year.

Compensation: Salary Range: $190K - $320K
IEI provides a compensation range that reflects the companys good-faith estimate of what we may offer for this position. Actual compensation will be based on the selected candidates education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity and geographic considerations. IEI reserves the right to offer compensation outside of the posted range and to provide additional benefits or incentives consistent with all applicable local state and federal laws.
Working Conditions:
A company vehicle is provided for fieldwork; a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required.
Ability to navigate active construction sites including walking on uneven terrain climbing and occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
Exposure at times to outdoor weather conditions wet or humid environments and typical construction-site hazards such as dust fumes chemicals noise vibration and in-progress work areas.
Occasionally may require extended or irregular hours including evenings or weekends to support project demands or respond to unexpected field situations.
Work is performed in both office and field environments including time spent reviewing plans reports and project documentation.
Standard schedule is typically a 40-hour workweek with flexibility for day or night shifts depending on project needs.
