About us

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response including road crash rescue bushfire hazardous material technical and vertical rescue severe weather incidents remote and swiftwater rescue and provides a number of functions supporting community safetyoutcomes.


The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR) Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt prevent mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role

Uniforms and Logistics is responsible for the provision of uniforms personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational equipment to all services and streams of the department. The Logistics Support team manages the warehousing and supply of uniforms PPE and operational equipment to QFD staff and volunteer members and provides supporting documentation workforce engagement and customer service to meet service delivery requirements.


Reporting to the Executive Manager you will lead the Logistics Support team in the delivery of the QFD Uniforms and Logistics Program. You will be responsible for and oversee the development and implementation of logistics procedures governance frameworks and business practices that enable efficient supply chain operations. The position provides strategic oversight of cost centre management transition planning and program coordination to ensure compliance optimise logistics performance and safeguard the continuity of uniforms and PPE services for staff and volunteers across QFD.

Key requirements

Highly desirable requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in supply chain logistics management contract management principles and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in the use of SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems with advanced Microsoft Office Suite modelling analytics verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to establish manage and monitor relationships with external logistics warehousing providers including oversight of service performance and delivery outcomes.
  • Queensland Government Procurement (Level 2 certification).

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work including but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the team to ensure efficient delivery of business services whilst maintaining a culture promoting customer focus and continuous improvement within the program.
  • Oversee the end-to-endsupply chain for uniforms and PPE to support service delivery capabilities within QFDs cost safety risk and quality objectives.
  • Determine monitor and review program performance to ensure service capacity and capability meetcurrent and future business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Queensland Government Procurement Policy financial management practices and departmental policies and procedures whilst strengthening governance and risk management.
  • Lead initiatives to develop and implement standardised tools practices and procedures that optimise efficiency and effectiveness of the program.
  • Facilitate effective engagement with staff and volunteers to promote initiatives communicate change and manage expectations.
  • Prepare high level complex briefing documents submissions reports and correspondence on related issues and initiatives in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Actively develop and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders ensuring services are responsive to current and future needs.
