FinOps practitioner

Drives cloud financial management practices to optimize cost efficiency and accountability across cloud environments. Works with engineering and finance teams to implement FinOps principles and deliver actionable insights for cost optimization.

Job Role/ duties and responsibilities

• Drive the adoption and implementation of FinOps practices to optimize cloud financial management across the organization
• Collaborate with engineering finance and business teams to establish cost accountability and transparency for cloud usage
• Analyze cloud spend data identify cost optimization opportunities and recommend actionable strategies to reduce waste
• Develop and maintain dashboards reports and KPIs to monitor cloud costs and usage trends
• Implement tagging strategies allocation models and chargeback/showback mechanisms for accurate cost attribution
• Support budgeting forecasting and financial planning processes for cloud services
• Provide guidance on pricing models reserved instances savings plans and other cost-saving mechanisms offered by cloud providers
• Conduct regular reviews of cloud architecture and usage patterns to ensure alignment with cost efficiency goals
• Educate stakeholders on FinOps principles best practices and tools to foster a culture of financial accountability
• Stay updated on emerging FinOps frameworks cloud pricing changes and industry trends to continuously improve processes

Required qualifications

• Strong understanding of FinOps principles and cloud financial management practices
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and cost optimization tools
• Ability to analyze cloud usage data and implement cost-saving strategies
• Knowledge of tagging strategies allocation models and chargeback/showback mechanisms
• Familiarity with budgeting forecasting and financial planning for cloud services
• Strong analytical and reporting skills using dashboards and KPIs
• Excellent communication skills to educate stakeholders on FinOps best practices
• Cloud financial management or related roles
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments and enterprise-scale implementations
• Certification in FinOps or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred
