One of our top clients is looking to hire Patient Advocate Representatives for their ever growing team. This is an onsite position located in Abington PA and will be staffed on a temp to hire basis paying $18.00-20.00 per hour to start. This is an excellent opportunity foir entry level candidates to join a growing organization. Interested candidates should possess a positve outgoing attitude as they will be interacting with patients on a daily basis.
Hours: Tuesday thru Saturday 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm (depending on candidates preference).
Bilingual preferred but not required
The Patient Advocate will complete Medical Assistance Applications for patients who may potentially qualify for benefits under the Medical Assistance Program or other entitlement programs.
The Patient Advocate will obtain all necessary documents required by the County Assistance Office to determine eligibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete the Medical Assistance Application screen for disability and complete the hospital charity care form with patient/family member or guardian
- Update computer system daily
- Medical Assistance production reports completed daily
- Submit 1663s to appropriate physician within 24 hours of completing the application
- Secure all releases waivers and questionnaires needed
- Leave each patient with a pending documents check list and follow up daily while patient is still in-house (if applicable).
- All necessary verification should be faxed for within the first 24-48 hours of completing the MA application
- Prepare applications for drop off at County Assistance Office
- Discharge files are to be worked immediately
- Follow up with County Assistance Office until determination has been made.
- Assist with the Marketplace where applicable.
- Report Red Flag and non-cooperative patients to management.
- Use protect and disclose patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or equivalent is required College degree in Healthcare field preferred
- 2 to 3 years experience in the field of healthcare preferred
- 2 to 3 years patient facing experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written skills) a plus
- Ability to work at various client sites as needed
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients one on one
- Ability to work independently and be detail-oriented
- Strong investigatory and researching skills
- Ability to use the internet and learn databases
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to efficiently multitask
- Possess a high level of organization skills
- Adhere to the policies and protocols of the client while behaving professionally at all times
- Ability to meet monthly productivity goals
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to move around the work area; light lifting required; Sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer computer peripherals and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear.
- Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions collaborate with others and handle stress.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
