Job Description

Ashley Hall School seeks applicants for a 3rd Grade Lead Teacher position in the Lower School. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

The successful candidate possesses the requisite skills to make learning joyful and meaningful for students bringing creativity and dynamism to the classroom and beyond while embracing the schools mission and strategic priorities which includes an emphasis on curriculum building in the International Baccalaureates Primary Years Programme and in English language Arts .

Major Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts mathematics science and social studies.

• Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the school as a whole sharing responsibilities for curriculum development and divisional priorities.

• Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences guided by student interests and our program of inquiry.

• Implement classroom instruction that includes whole group small group and individualized instruction.

• Prepare assignments for students review and provide feedback and/or grades.

• Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic social and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.

• Communicate clearly and work well with parents and colleagues.

As a lead teacher other duties include:

• Assisting at car-pool (drop off and pick up of students) lunch and recess duty.

• Professional development as it relates to curriculum development health and safety of students.

• All other duties as assigned by the division director.

Education and Experience

Required:

• Bachelors degree in an applicable field.

• Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.

Preferred:

• Masters Degree.

• Experience in independent schools.

• Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme or have training in IB methodology.

• Wilson Fundations phonics curriculum Arts & Letters or Wit & Wisdom ELA curriculum EveryDay Math Responsive Classroom.

• Have experience in and a commitment to differentiated learning and a strong pedagogical approach to supporting diverse learners.

• A commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to engage and honor all learners and embrace diverse perspectives.
