Mō te tūnga About the role

The Money Laundering Team (MLT) is part of the Police Financial Crime Group. The role of MLT is to investigate money laundering targets and their enablers operating within New Zealand. MLT also provides specialist support to the National Organised Crime Group (NOCG) Police Districts and external partners to assist them with high-profile international and domestic investigations.

Due to a recent expansion MLT is seeking multiple Specialist Investigators to join the team. These Specialist Investigator roles will lead high-profile investigations into Money Laundering so that offenders cannot re-invest any profits derived from crime.

Working as part of a dedicated mixed-capability team MLT are seeking investigators who can manage reactive and proactive investigations work with agency partners targeting serious criminal activity prepare and execute production orders and search warrants carry out effective interviews and interact with internal stakeholders international partners and Crown Prosecutors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Take ownership and accountability for Money Laundering Team investigations processes prosecutions and asset restraints/forfeitures.
  • Prepare and present written and verbal information in a clear and concise way ensuring work meets NZ Police and Court standards.
  • Facilitate cooperation and partnerships across teams ranks and organisations.
  • Support the development of other staff within the team including technical and leadership skills.
  • Identify problems generate solutions and make rational decisions.
  • Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Experience managing large and complex criminal and/or civil investigations
  • Experience working well with internal and external partners
  • Ability to assess detailed information and produce clear and concise written documentation
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including Crimes Act 1961 Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009 and Search and Surveillance Act 2012.
  • The ability to learn new systems and analyse money laundering techniques.
  • The ability to actively prioritise both reactive and proactive work while maintaining quality communication and wellbeing.

Whakaritenga motuhake Special requirements

  • This role is based in the Auckland area. Some local and domestic travel may be required
  • Must hold a Class 1 full driving licence

Theability to obtain the following qualifications:

  • PCT (Physical Competency Test)
  • PITT (Police Integrated Tactical Training) Level 2 Certificate
  • Frontline Safety Training Level 2
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Professional Police Driver Program (Bronze)

Utu ā-tau Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $95057 and $100626 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
