About the Department of Information Technology Services
Information Technology Services provides application support infrastructure network support hardware and software support lab and classroom support training IT security and mobile computing to the Mount Royal community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Technology and Client Services and working closely with Technical Leads the incumbent provides front-line technical support for Mount Royal Universitys administrative systems student labs classrooms and meeting spaces. Responsibilities include hardware and software support inventory maintenance and assisting faculty staff students and external users to support learning and operations.
The position is a full-time role working 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Support Students Staff Faculty and University Community on use of Mount Royal University Computer Resources.
- Advise support and instruct Faculty Instructional Assistants Staff Students and non-Mount Royal University personnel on the proper use of existing Computer hardware equipment and software.
- Perform one-on-one consultations and informal workshops on technology devices supported by the Campus Computing Support team.
- Work on special projects and issues as assigned by the Manager to improve this service.
- Support existing systems and computer image(s) as required by the campus faculty requests and general maintenance within assigned areas.
- Provide technical support along with preventative and corrective maintenance including but not limited to:
- Computer Labs
- Offices
- Technology Classrooms
- Meeting rooms
- Lecture Theaters and Halls
- Provide expert-level technical support in assigned primary area(s) of responsibility within the Campus Computing Support team.
- Conduct research and resolve complex technical issues related to the assigned area.
- Share knowledge and best practices with other team members to ensure consistent support across technical areas.
- Educate themselves on an ongoing basis with new or additional features of software and hardware within Information Technology Services range of responsibilities.
- Create technical documents for internal and/or external university community use.
- Make presentations to the MRU community on new technologies as required.
- Perform duties for special projects as assigned by the Director and/or Manager of Technology and Client Services.
Qualifications
- The incumbent has a diploma or degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related certification typically.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of or Certification in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
- Keen troubleshooting skills and good communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with the student and staff/faculty on a professional level. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle many concurrent tasks at one time and prioritize them into low and high priority tasks. Working knowledge of A Network topology or related certifications and basic scripting.
- Ability to judge the circumstances and make a decision/implement a solution if immediate supervisory contact is not available.
Salary: $75147.80 - $95113.20
