Job Description
Our client is a leading provider of real-time streaming technology delivering interactive video experiences with sub-second latency to customers across sectors including corporate communications auctions eSports education and live events.
This role is a key part of their platform engineering team developing and maintaining mission-critical backend systems that power real-time video delivery at global scale. The ideal candidate is passionate about building high-performance systems solving complex concurrency challenges and working on technology that underpins live interactive media experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enhance core streaming engines written in Go ensuring high performance and stability.
Design and implement scalable architectures optimised for throughput latency and reliability.
Set and achieve performance and reliability targets for real-time media delivery.
Optimise protocols and networking performance across TCP UDP and HTTP/1/2/3.
Build robust observability testing and deployment processes for safe continuous delivery.
Collaborate closely with product infrastructure and support teams to deliver effective solutions.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
Technical Environment
Languages: Go (primary) (select microservices)
Networking: TCP UDP HTTP/1/2/3 on Linux/Ubuntu
Concurrency: Production-grade asynchronous designs and parallelism
Version Control & CI: Git and modern CI/CD workflows
Desirable experience: RTMP WebRTC WebTransport/MOQ C/C Docker
Candidate Profile
Strong experience as a backend engineer with Go or another systems-level programming language.
Proven background in designing low-latency distributed backend services.
Excellent understanding of networking fundamentals and performance optimisation.
Skilled in benchmarking profiling and debugging under real-world load conditions.
Strong communicator with the ability to share knowledge and influence engineering practices.
Passionate about delivering quality software and improving development culture.
