Material Handler FLSA Class: Non-Exempt/Hourly Department: Purchasing Type: Full-Time Reports To: Purchasing Manager EEO-1 Class: Operatives Starting Pay: $17.50 per hour Schedule: M-Th 6:00 am - 4:30 pm ***PAY IS BASED ON EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILL Summary/Objective | The Material Handler is responsible for storing moving and managing materials used in production. This position tracks stock documents orders and stores materials as well as pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on work orders. |
Essential Functions | - Coordinates and issues shop work orders from ERP system to meet production schedules and coordinates activities with other departments as necessary.
- Identifies and expedites action on items behind schedule to assist in preventing production delays.
- Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling order from inventory delivering production materials and supplies where needed and staging finished product for final distribution.
- Complete Inventory Transactions within the ERP system in a timely manner.
- Analyzes material shortages preventing work order material fulfillment and engages the appropriate person(s).
- Confer with department coordinators leads or other personnel to determine if any expedited activities are required.
- Conveys purchasing requirements and keeping data on the availability of products in short supply
- Performing inventory cycle counts.
- Receiving of materials from outside Vendors/Suppliers.
- Evaluates packaging and notes any damage on the packing slip and/or freight BOL.
- Reviews the received item to ensure it matches the packing slip.
- Coordinates with saw shop personnel to place raw materials in appropriate location.
- Receive into the ERP system.
- Place in the appropriate location ensuring correct location in ERP and rotation of stock by date.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications | - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
| Educations and Experience | - High School Diploma GED and/or Technical School Graduate or industry-recognized certification.
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing position or related experience.
| Skills and Competencies | - Knowledge of Epicor ERP system strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials
- Data entry math and computer skills
- Highly organized with strong prioritization skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills written and oral
- Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy
- Self-motivated; ability to work independently
- Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment
- Lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement background desirable
