Job Summary

Position Description


The Resiliency Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Harris County Precinct 2 and the assigned community promoting preparedness recovery environmental awareness and resilience through proactive community engagement education and coordination. This position works to strengthen local networks build capacity for disaster readiness and support initiatives that enhance community safety and cleanliness including illegal dumping prevention outreach. The role requires strong communication organizational and partnership building skills to enhance the communitys ability to withstand and recover from environmental social and economic challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with residents community groups faith based organizations schools and local businesses to build neighborhood-level preparedness networks. Organizes community resilience meetings volunteer events and educational workshops.
  • Supports implementation of Precinct 2s emergency preparedness initiatives including distribution of outreach materials. Assists in maintaining contact lists and continuity plans.
  • Illegal Dumping Awareness & Environmental Outreach - Collaborates with Public Safety Risk Management and Community Relations to conduct illegal dumping prevention campaigns. Educates residents on reporting mechanisms environmental hazards and county enforcement programs. Coordinates cleanup events and supports data collection for high dumping areas.
  • Assists with collection of resilience and environmental data (e.g. STEAR registrants vulnerable populations illegal dumping hotspots). Maintains accurate records updates resource maps and prepares monthly community reports.
  • Partnership Development & Outreach Represents the Precinct at community meetings fairs and interagency collaborations. Strengthens partnerships with County departments non-profits law enforcement and public safety agencies to promote resilience and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • Two (2) years of experience in community outreach emergency management public safety or environmental coordination
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure:
  • Valid Texas Drivers License and reliable transportation required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of community engagement and outreach principles.
  • Knowledge of prevention strategies enforcement coordination and community based support.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse community partners and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in public speaking meeting facilitation and community organizing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online outreach platforms

Preferences

  • Experience with government non-profit or community-based organizations preferred.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regula Full-time

  • Monday - Friday 40 Hours per week

    • This may include weekends holidays and requirement to work during emergency disasters.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • This job operates in a clerical office setting 50% and outdoors 50% of the time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. Noise level in the work environment is usually average. Noise level outdoors will vary.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files of up to 50 lbs open filling cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.


Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
