Reporting to the Manager Medical Equipment & Supplies the Coordinator Equipment & Supply Management provides leadership and expert advice to help establish and manage internal and external support systems for supply and equipment management within the perioperative areas of the Surgical Program.

At Providence Health Care our Coordinators play a key role in supporting safe efficient and high-quality surgical and reprocessing services.

What youll do:

  • Assess equipment and supply needs in perioperative areas and coordinate product evaluations to support clinical requirements.
  • Implement and maintain systems and processes that ensure efficient reliable and standardized supply and equipment management.
  • Facilitate product standardization and monitor the effectiveness of supply workflows identifying and resolving issues as needed.
  • Coordinate the availability and readiness of supplies and equipment by liaising with internal teams and external partners.
  • Supervise designated staff supporting daily operations and maintaining a collaborative solutions-focused work environment.

What You Bring

Education Training and Experience:

  • Registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN.
  • Three (3) years recent related experience in a medical device reprocessing department or operating room or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Your Day to Day:

  • Manages day-to-day activities of perioperative anaesthesia and surgical clinic supply staff including work assignment coordination performance evaluation onboarding and approval of overtime.

  • Provides recommendations to the Manager Medical Equipment & Supplies regarding equipment supplies staffing and operational issues such as device recalls equipment malfunctions and workflow challenges.

  • Represents PHC on committees including VCH Surgery Product Evaluation Committee (SPEC) (subcommittee of the Regional Surgical Executive Council) and appropriate PHSA Supply Chain Value Analysis Teams (VAT). Participates in implementing SPEC policies within PHC as approved by PHCs Surgical Business Committees (SBC) or other related Surgical Program Steering Committees. Participates as a PHC representative on the PHC Surgical Program Operations Committee (SPOC).; implements approved policies; consults with clinical stakeholders on new product/equipment requests and ensures proper approval processes are followed.

  • Leads standardization of operating room supplies and instrumentation; coordinates site-based product evaluations; assesses new/replacement products for equivalency suitability and approved implementation.

  • Coordinates acquisition lifecycle management preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment instrumentation and supplies liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensures par levels are set reviewed and adequate; conducts periodic audits; identifies and resolves product issues; recommends clinically acceptable alternatives for critical products.

  • Assists in developing and monitoring supply budgets tracks expenditures conducts variance analysis and prepares financial reviews.

  • Supports development and updating of policies and procedures process design/redesign initiatives and ensures sales representative activities follow organizational policies; performs other related duties as assigned.
