ROLE TYPE & SCHEDULE:
- Part-Time (Special Payroll)
- Program operates every Saturday during daytime hours
- Shift is approx. 5 hours
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is a masters level position responsible for direct therapy with older teens and young adults enrolled in the Center for Autisms STEP program.
STEP programming is specifically designed to promote clients engagement in the community and support their transition to post-secondary education and/or the workplace. Treatment primarily focuses on teaching pre-vocational and independent life skills. These activities can include performing household chores traveling in the community preparing meals learning about adolescence and puberty shopping socialization and other expectations of living independently in a community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and lead sessions and activities for clients that are appropriate to their developmental level and clinical needs.
- Demonstrate initiative and responsibility for pursuing therapeutic resources for clients in accordance with the Center for Autisms mission statement.
- Supervise clients to ensure safety.
- Complete incident/injury reports.
- Participate in team meetings as needed.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of treatment interventions.
- Implement the Center for Autisms clinical philosophy by emphasizing the importance of individualized assessment and treatment planning.
- Complete all relevant documentation.
- Maintain effectiveness in response to various situational demands.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift clients and supplies
- Ability to play on the floor and run with/after clients
- Ability to access all areas of the program space at the Center for Autism
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must meet one of the following:
- Have a masters degree in a human services field such as social work psychology counseling marriage and family therapy etc. and have 1 years of direct care experience or supervised practice
- Be licensed in Pennsylvania as a professional counselor (LPC) clinical social worker (LCSW) or marriage and family therapist (LMFT)
- Must have access to personal transportation
