Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized professional and results oriented individual to serve as Chief of Statewide Security Operations. Subject to management approval this position will direct manage and coordinate the statewide security program for the Department. The position will provide oversight of overall office security and direct the review of unusual incidents for all DCFS facilities statewide. The position will also formulate develop and oversee the implementation of an internal security program on a statewide basis while providing oversight of regional Chief Security Officers throughout the state. This position will conduct site visits to review and ensure that safety and security measures are in place and fully implemented in each DCFS facility. The position will coordinate responses to security incidents and emergency situations and will serve on 24 hour per day/7 day per week on-call assignment. Essential Functions
- As Statewide Chief of Security Operations directs manages and coordinates the statewide security program forthe Department
- Drives to and conducts site visits throughout the state to review and ensure that safety and security measures arein place and fully implemented in each DCFS facility
- Advises the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Staff regarding initiatives policies procedures rules andregulations relating to security programs
- Serves as full line supervisor of subordinate staff
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumeratedabove
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college
- Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the area of law enforcement or securitymanagement
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of professional experience managing security or law enforcement operations in a public or business organization
- 5 years of professional experience conducting security or law enforcement operations in a public or business organization
- 5 years of professional experience developing and/or monitoring the implementation of security protocols in a public orbusiness organization
- 4 years of professional experience conducting site safety/security reviews in a public or business organization
- 4 years of experience supervising staff in a public or business organization
- Completion of a bachelors degree in public administration business administration legal studies law enforcementcriminal justice or social work

- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate valid drivers license

All employees required to file a Statement ofEconomic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive EthicsCommission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings
