Job Summary
SPARTAN CONTRACTING-Seeking experienced construction industry accountant.
Overview
Spartan Contracting Corporation (SCC) a multi-state commercial builder based in Tampa FL 34677 seeks a Controller to lead all accounting operations and financial reporting. The Controller will oversee general ledger accuracy monthly closing cash management and ensure compliance with internal controls. This position supervises Project Accountants partners closely with Operations Project Management and Ownership to maintain fiscal discipline and financial transparency.
This is a Hybrid position based onsite 3 days a week in our Oldsmar FL office.
Scope of Work
- Oversee general accounting operations including GL AP AR and payroll
- Manage monthly and annual financial closes
- Supervise Project Accountants; Help to determine departmental staffing requirements
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements forecasts and budget variance reports
- Ensure compliance with company policies GAAP and lien laws
- Manage internal controls and oversee audits and bonding
- Collaborate with external CPA firm for tax preparation and annual reviews
- Maintain and reconcile cash accounts job cost schedules and WIP reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 10 years of accounting experience including 5 in a leadership role
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting and WIP reporting
- Proficiency with ComputerEase Sage or similar ERP systems
- Experience with construction industry software such as Autodesk Procore BridgitBench etc.
- Advanced skills in Excel PowerBI and financial modeling
