Description
Title:HVAC Technician
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level:Salary and Benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MSEA Support Services Unit. This position is classified as a Range 18 with a range between $23.12 to $26.30 per hour based on experience.
Responsibilities:This position is responsible for the installation maintenance and repair of HVAC and plumbing systems across campus including heating units air exchangers domestic water systems and related components. The role involves diagnosing issues replacing worn parts and ensuring reliable operation of all mechanical systems including variable frequency drives (VFDs). The employee ensures all work complies with applicable federal and state regulations including OSHA EPA and Maine Department of Labor standards related to HVAC and plumbing systems. Additional responsibilities include tracking fuel usage maintaining inspection logs managing inventory and supplies and supporting new construction renovation or repair projects across campus outside of HVAC work. The position may also involve supervising student employees being the working supervisor of employees and coordinating inspections to support safe efficient and compliant campus operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience OR Associates Degree in HVAC Technology Applied Science or related fields
- Maine Boiler Operator License (or Stationary Steam Engineer License)
- EPA Section 608 Certification
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform a variety of manual tasks
