Job Summary of the Medical Sciences Manager - Field Based
The Medical Sciences Manager is a field-based scientific/medical/clinical professional/educator who supports the Medical Affairs organization under the leadership of the Medical Sciences Director (MSD). This role focuses on engaging with key strategic programs clinical experts and decision-makers in peripheral nerve surgery and related fields facilitating scientific exchange supporting medical education and evidence-generation efforts and contributing insights that advance company strategies. The Manager serves as a critical conduit between the field and internal stakeholders ensuring timely and relevant scientific communication aligned with therapeutic area goals.
Requirements of the Medical Sciences Manager - Field Based
- Bachelors degree required; Advanced degree (MD DO PhD PharmD DSC DNP NP DPM OTD/PTD) in a related discipline strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in Field Medical Medical Affairs Clinical Development Medical Education or comparable experience.
- Residing in the Central or Western part of the U.S. is strongly preferred.
- Active clinical care clinical research or academia experience preferred.
- Experience in Peripheral Nerve Surgery Nerve Repair Neuroscience Reconstructive Surgery Orthopedic Surgery Hand Surgery Otolaryngology Neurosurgery Physical Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy or Pain Management and field medical affairs is strongly preferred.
- Clear understanding of regional medical practice clinical decision-making and healthcare systems affecting patient care.
- Strong communication skills to enable effective collaboration and synergy with Sales Representatives Area Sales Managers Regional Sales Directors and other field representatives.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of clinical research trial and/or related laboratory research design and execution.
- Competencies: Customer Service focus Teamwork & Collaboration Written and Verbal Communication skills Presentation skills Time Management skills Self-Starter.
- Working Conditions: Position may require periodic evening and weekend work as necessary to fulfill obligations. Approximately 60-70% overnight travel.
Responsibilities of the Medical Sciences Manager - Field Based
The specific duties of the Medical Sciences Manager - Field Based include but are not limited to:
- Support and deliver scientific presentations to healthcare providers and academic audiences and assist with the development of training and education content under MSD guidance.
- Provide value through sharing science medical and clinical information to targeted peripheral nerve surgeons hand and reconstructive surgeons neurosurgeons and other specialists involved in nerve repair and microsurgery.
- Provide high-quality non-promotional scientific information in response to unsolicited inquiries focused on clinical practice current research and pipeline developments in peripheral nerve repair.
- Develop align and execute a strategic engagement plan for prioritized accounts/institutions to deliver key engagements that drive awareness application adoption and advocacy initiatives in peripheral nerve repair.
- Collaborate with the MSD to identify clinical study collaborators facilitate investigator interactions and support post-market and real-world data initiatives related to surgical outcomes and patient care.
- Attend relevant regional surgical and medical conferences to support scientific exchange collect insights and track trends in peripheral nerve repair and reconstructive surgery.
- Gather and report field intelligence on clinical practices emerging data and regional healthcare dynamics contributing to internal strategic planning and innovation.
- Work closely with internal teams such as Medical Commercial Research and Development Clinical and Health Economics to provide regional medical and scientific support.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory legal and ethical standards in all medical affairs activities and complete all administrative responsibilities on time and accurately.
