About the opportunity

The Residential Operations and Communities Officer is responsible for creating a vibrant and inclusive residential environment at the Cradle Coast Campus with a strong focus on student wellbeing and engagement. This student-facing role designs and delivers programs and events that foster community connections particularly for students in the College of Health and Medicine. Working in alignment with the Residential Communities Strategy the position collaborates with UTAS Sport Student Engagement TUSA and local organisations to promote health wellbeing and participation.

The role involves proactive engagement with residents responding to enquiries in a student-centred solution-focused manner and linking students to broader university services. It requires flexibility to lead activities during evenings and weekends including shared on-call duties to support operational needs. By building partnerships and delivering meaningful experiences the Officer plays a key role in enhancing the overall student experience and strengthening connections between students staff and the wider community.

What youll do:

  • High quality response to enquiries and accurate timely advice on matters related to student accommodation (including face to face over the phone or via email) and guidance provided to internal stakeholders on servicing the needs of residents.
  • Effective management of peak and off-peak residential services lifecycle.
  • Supports all aspects of student financial and account matters.
  • Ensures all maintenance requests and room inspections are dealt with within allocated timeframes.

  • Demonstrated experience in student or community development with a focus on social engagement wellbeing sport volunteering and inclusive student experiences.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to plan deliver and evaluate programs that enhance student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer service and cultural competency in diverse communities.
  • Ability to respond to complex student needs with a safety-first people-centred approach aligned with WHS and University policies.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116872 comprising base salary within the range of $92120 to $99891 plus 17% superannuation.
